Annual Workshops & Activities:
Twice a year, GCC members gather together for in-person workshops. These workshops are opportunities for members to learn from their peers, share best practices, develop trusting relationships and gain from professional development opportunities.

Local Government Building Electrification Workgroup:
Based upon outcomes of the Fall 2017 California Local Government Building Electrification Convening, Green Cities California (GCC) now facilitates a Local Government Building Electrification Workgroup led by and for cities and counties. The workgroup will facilitate local governments’ engagement in Policy and Regulatory advancements pertaining to Codes and Standards, Climate Action Plans and other energy program development as is determined to be relevant to participants. Green Cities California is proud to have the support of Stop Waste to facilitate this workgroup, and participation is open to both GCC and Non-GCC members. Over 30 cities and counties currently participate in this group, along with key partners like lgsec, sierra club and nrdc.

Developing Building Electrification language for Climate Action Plans: Develop a resource document for cities and counties to use to assist with incorporating building electrification in Climate Action Plans.
Information Forum and Educational Opportunity: Provide a forum for sharing information and a shared resource folder for cities and counties to share information easily that could be related to, but not limited to, the following:
Codes and standards (reach codes, cost effectiveness studies, permitting, etc.)
Informational pieces related to education and marketing to consumers, professionals, technical experts
How-to guides for integrating technology into private/public sector
Other tool-kit like materials that can be widely applied and shared
And other materials and resources as the group determines appropriate, timely and necessary
Educational opportunities for learning from experts and/or learning among peers, in the form of at least one webinar.

Focus: Building Electrification + Renewable Energy

The Local Government Sustainable Energy Coalition and Green Cities California are combining efforts to hold a convening focused on Building Electrification through Renewable Energy. This convening will focus on the transition to renewable heating technologies and how local governments and partners can explore opportunities to advance these initiatives in their communities. This convening will serve as Day One of the GCC Fall Workshop, and is supported by Stop Waste. The convening is open to all GCC members, and cities and counties and other organizations interested in working on this issue.

On Wednesday, September 20th, GCC'S fall workshop will be focused on peer learning sessions designed by and for local government sustainability professionals. By attending this meeting, you can share and learn the relevant information you need and build stronger connections with your peers across California. The Fall Workshop is open to city and county sustainability representatives only.

GCC Member Hotel: The Waterfront Hotel in Jack London Square, 10 Waterfront St., Oakland, CA. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to BART, which is just 10 blocks away. The hotel is five minutes from the Amtrak station and close to Interstates 80, 880, 580, 980, and Highway 24.
The free Broadway shuttle from the hotel to the meeting venues. The shuttle runs from 7am and departs three blocks north from the hotel at Broadway and 3rd, and shuttles arrive every 10-15 minutes.
Sierra Club (2101 Webster St. #1300) can be accessed by departing the shuttle at Broadway and 22nd, and walking one block east on 22nd to Webster St.. It is also within a couple blocks of the 19th St. BART Station.
Stop Waste (1537 Webster St.) can be accessed by departing the shuttle at Broadway and 17th, and walking two blocks east on 17th, then south 1/2 block on Webster St. It is also within a couple blocks of the 12th St. BART Station.
